On Aug. 29, 2009, the annual conference on “the New Trends of China and Myanmar Foreign Policies & the New Development of Sino-Myanmar Relations” was held in Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). Scholars from SIIS including Vice President Chen Dongxiao, Director Ma Ying of the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies, and Director Zhao Gancheng of the Center for South Asia Studies, etc. exchanged views with the 4-people delegation from Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) in a comprehensive and candid manner on the 3 major themes— “the development of China-Myanmar relations in the context of global economic crisis,” “the new trends of Myanmar’s relations with major powers” and “Myanmar’s role in ASEAN and East Asia,” respectively.
