“Award Ceremony for Articles on ‘60-year of New China: the Connotation, Feature and Development of Diplomatic Theory with Chinese Characteristics’ cum the Fifth Session of Young Scholar Forum of Shanghai Association of International Relations” was held by SIIS on June 12th. SIIS President Yang Jiemian attended the meeting and made the opening speech. Participated in the meeting were SIIS Vice President Chen Dongxiao, General Secretary Jin Yingzhong of Shanghai Association of International Studies , Director Xu Haiqing of International Sector from Wenhui Bao Newspaper, as well as around 80 young scholars and graduates from more than ten universities and institutes in Shanghai, including Fudan University, East China Normal University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Tongji University, Shanghai Normal University and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and so on.
The award was given in the beginning of the meeting. Then focusing on the new thinking of Chinese diplomatic theory and new exploration of Chinese diplomatic practice, the participants had an in-depth discussion on the background of the evolution of Chinese diplomatic theory, the influence of the transformation of international system on Chinese diplomatic strategy, the changes of Chinese diplomatic strategy in the process of China’s access in the international institutions, soft power in Chinese diplomacy, new forms of Chinese diplomatic practice, evaluation on the performance of China’s new diplomatic practice and so on. The meeting was a good platform for the young scholars from Shanghai to display their wisdom on IR studies.
